Veteran actor Raza Murad has questioned the absence of major Bollywood stars from the funeral of actor Mushtaq Khan, saying that no prominent “big face” from the industry attended to pay their final respects.
Mushtaq Khan died on September 24 at the age of 75 after battling cancer. His last rites were held in Mumbai on September 25, with several friends, colleagues and fellow actors attending the funeral.
In a video shared on Instagram, Murad expressed disappointment over the absence of actors he described as major stars.
“Unfortunately, no star whom we call a star came to pay his last respects. His friends, colleagues and actors all came, but no big face came,” Murad said.
Raza Murad Says Khan Gave 50 Years to Cinema
Murad said Mushtaq Khan had dedicated around five decades to the Indian film industry and questioned why some prominent actors could not make time to attend his funeral.
He contrasted their absence with their appearances at high-profile social events, saying celebrities often attend weddings involving influential families or events connected with political parties.
“But they did not pay last respects to a man who gave 50 years of his life to the film industry. He gave his whole life, and yet you can’t give 50 minutes to him,” Murad said.
Without naming specific actors, Murad also said Khan had built his career through his work rather than relying on influential people for opportunities.
Several Bollywood Colleagues Attend Funeral
Despite Murad’s comments about the absence of major stars, several members of the film fraternity attended Mushtaq Khan’s funeral.
Those reported to have paid their respects included Rajpal Yadav, Sanjay Mishra, Rajat Bedi, Annu Kapoor, Sulabha Arya, Anees Bazmee, Manish Wadhwa, Shehzad Khan, Zaid Darbar and comedian Sunil Pal.
Mushtaq Khan was known for his supporting and character roles across Hindi cinema and appeared in numerous popular films during his long career.
His credits included Aashiqui, Welcome, Hera Pheri, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Jodi No. 1, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Badhaai Do and Stree 2.
Following Khan’s death, Murad also shared an emotional tribute, remembering him as a versatile actor and a kind-hearted person.
