Punjab has introduced stricter rules for obtaining a driving license, requiring applicants to complete key testing and payment steps within fixed deadlines.
Under the revised procedure, effective September 17, 2026, applicants who pass the e-Sign test must appear for the road test within 24 hours. If they fail to take the road test within this period, their e-Sign test result will expire and they will have to restart the entire process.
Applicants who successfully clear both the e-Sign and road tests must also generate a Payment Slip ID (PSID) within the same 24-hour period. Failure to generate the PSID within the deadline will lead to cancellation of both test results.
Once the PSID has been generated, applicants will have seven days to pay the required fee. If the payment is not made within this period, the application will be canceled.

If the PSID expires, applicants will have to retake both the e-Sign and road tests. The tests must again be completed within the prescribed 24-hour period.
The Punjab Traffic Police center where the road test is conducted will be responsible for submitting the application for the regular driving license.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Punjab has directed traffic officials across all districts to ensure strict implementation of the revised procedure.
