The United Arab Emirates has launched a new digital service allowing employers to apply for work permits for employees recruited from outside the country, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) said.
The service is available to establishments registered with MoHRE and is designed to simplify the process of hiring workers from overseas.
How UAE Employers Can Apply
Employers can complete the work permit application electronically through MoHRE’s digital channels by providing the required information and supporting documents.
The permit is intended for registered establishments seeking to recruit workers from abroad and employ them in the UAE in accordance with applicable labour regulations and approved procedures.
The digital process is designed to reduce paperwork and administrative steps involved in overseas recruitment while giving businesses a more streamlined way to complete employment procedures.
Employers Must Cover Recruitment Costs
Under UAE labour regulations, employers are responsible for covering recruitment expenses associated with bringing workers from their home countries.
Businesses must also pay applicable government employment fees and meet other legal requirements, including insurance, contributions and guarantees where applicable.
These obligations remain in place alongside the new digital application process.
UAE Expands Digital Employment Services
MoHRE said the initiative forms part of its broader efforts to modernise employment services and provide businesses with faster and more efficient digital options for recruiting international talent.
The new service also supports the UAE government’s wider digital transformation strategy by moving employment-related procedures online and reducing the time and administrative work required from employers.
