Artist turns discarded litter into fan collectibles
Conceptual artist Justin Gignac collected discarded items from outside the reported wedding venue and preserved them inside transparent acrylic cubes, marketing them as one-of-a-kind keepsakes for Swift fans.
Each collectible was sold online for $25.
The product description read:
“There’s garbage on the floor after the party. Collected from the edge of a love story outside Madison Square Garden, as close to Taylor and Travis’ big day as you could’ve gotten without an invite.”
What was inside the display cubes
According to the artist, each cube contained small pieces of litter gathered from outside the venue, including:
- Cigarette butts
- Bottle caps
- Other discarded debris
Although unconventional, the collectibles quickly became a talking point across social media and entertainment circles.
More than 1,300 packages sell out worldwide
Reports indicate that all available collectibles were purchased, with customers from approximately 30 countries placing orders.
The rapid sellout underscores the global appeal of Swift’s fan base, commonly known as Swifties, who are well known for collecting concert merchandise, limited-edition albums, signed memorabilia and other items associated with the singer’s career.
Celebrity memorabilia market continues to grow
The success of the project reflects the increasing demand for unique celebrity-related collectibles, where even ordinary objects can gain value because of their connection to high-profile public figures or major entertainment events.
