The Government of Punjab has extended the deadline for applications under the CM Punjab Revolutionary Internship Program for veterinary graduates and para-vets, giving eligible candidates until May 15 to apply.
The extension comes as authorities aim to maximise participation in a programme designed to strengthen livestock services across the province and provide structured entry-level professional training to young specialists.
Under the initiative, veterinary graduates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs60,000, while para-vet interns will be given Rs40,000 per month during the training period. The programme has been launched with an allocated budget of Rs600 million, reflecting the provincial government’s focus on livestock development and rural service delivery.
According to official figures, the internship scheme will accommodate 264 veterinary graduates and 371 para-vets. A district-wise quota has been introduced to ensure fair distribution of opportunities across Punjab, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas where livestock services are in higher demand.
Officials said the programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and field-based veterinary practice. Interns will receive hands-on training in animal vaccination campaigns, disease diagnosis, treatment procedures, and on-ground assistance to livestock farmers.

A senior livestock department official said the initiative is aimed at improving service delivery in the sector, adding that practical exposure is essential for improving veterinary outcomes in rural communities.
The veterinary internship program reflects the government’s broader strategy to create employment opportunities while strengthening public service delivery in the agriculture and livestock sector, which remains a key contributor to Punjab’s rural economy.
Eligibility criteria
For veterinary graduates, applicants must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an HEC-recognised institution. The maximum age limit is 25 years. Candidates must also be registered with the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council, hold a relevant district domicile, and must not be employed in any public or private organisation. Ownership of a smartphone is also mandatory for field reporting and digital recordkeeping.
For para-vets, applicants must possess a two-year Livestock Assistant Diploma (LAD). The maximum age limit is 20 years. Similar conditions apply regarding domicile, employment status, and smartphone ownership.
The livestock sector contributes significantly to Pakistan’s agricultural GDP, with Punjab serving as the country’s largest hub for dairy and animal husbandry activities. Officials say strengthening frontline veterinary services is critical to improving productivity and disease control in the sector.
Applications can be submitted online through the official government portal at www.jobs.punjab.gov.pk, where candidates are required to complete and submit the application form electronically.
Analysis
Experts suggest that the veterinary internship program is part of a wider policy shift toward skill-based internships rather than traditional entry-level hiring in the public sector. By combining stipends with field training, the programme aims to address youth unemployment while improving service delivery in rural veterinary infrastructure.
The extension of the deadline is also expected to increase competition among applicants, particularly in districts with high numbers of veterinary graduates. Officials believe the programme could serve as a model for similar internship schemes in other technical departments if implemented successfully.
For now, the focus remains on encouraging eligible candidates to apply within the revised timeline, as the provincial government moves to operationalise the next phase of the initiative.
