Punjab Govt Announces Early Salary Disbursement Ahead of Labour Day

The Punjab government has announced an early release of salaries for provincial government employees, aiming to ensure timely payments ahead of the upcoming Labour Day holiday and an extended weekend break.

According to an official notification, salaries will be disbursed on April 30, allowing employees to receive their pay before Labour Day on May 1, which is observed as a public holiday across the province.

Officials said the decision was taken to avoid any inconvenience that could arise due to banking and administrative closures during consecutive holidays.

Extended holidays prompt early payment

The notification also noted that May 3 falls on a weekend, with Saturday and Sunday both being official holidays. This effectively creates a prolonged holiday period, making early salary disbursement necessary for smooth financial planning by employees.

The Punjab Finance Department has formally issued directives to ensure salaries are credited on time. Authorities described the move as a facilitative step aimed at providing financial ease and convenience to government employees ahead of the extended break.
