Officials in Balochistan have enforced strict measures under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code to maintain law and order, imposing a series of restrictions across both provinces.
According to a notification issued by the Balochistan Home Department, pillion riding on motorcycles has been banned throughout the province.
The order also prohibits the use of unregistered motorcycles, vehicles with tinted windows, and the transportation of explosive materials.
Moreover, covering the face or wearing a mask in public places has been banned. The province already has restrictions in place on the display of weapons, gatherings of five or more people, and public demonstrations or sit-ins.
The new measures will remain effective until November 30, citing ongoing security concerns.
Seven-day extension of Section 144
In Punjab, the Home Department has announced a seven-day extension of Section 144 restrictions, now effective until November 15. The ban covers all kinds of protests, rallies, processions, sit-ins, and public gatherings.
Under the extended order, gatherings of four or more people in public places, display of arms, use of loudspeakers, and publication or distribution of hate or sectarian material are strictly prohibited.
However, the restrictions will not apply to weddings, funerals, or burials.
Government officials, law enforcement personnel on duty, and judicial officers are exempt from the ban. The use of loudspeakers has been limited solely to Azan (call to prayer) and Friday sermons.
