Mohsin Naqvi likely to become next interior minister of Pakistan

No plan to arrest Imran Khan yet, says CM Mohsin Naqvi

Mohsin Naqvi is likely to become the next interior minister of Pakistan. There are rumblings in Pakistan’s political landscape as reports suggest that Mohsin Naqvi, the current chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), may soon be appointed as the interior minister in the cabinet of newly-elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Naqvi, known for his previous role in steering the caretaker setup as chief minister in Punjab, is speculated to be nominated as a joint candidate for the Senate elections by the ruling coalition.

Once elected as a senator, he would reportedly assume the mantle of the country’s interior minister, according to local media sources.

Despite the potential shift in his responsibilities to the federal government, Naqvi is expected to maintain his position as the chairman of the PCB.

The news comes following a special meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, where Naqvi’s leadership was reaffirmed.

Interestingly, his candidacy for the position was initially pitched by caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, adding a layer of intrigue to his potential transition to the political sphere.

While these reports suggest a significant career shift for Naqvi, no official confirmation has been provided by either the PCB or the government.

As Mohsin Naqvi is likely to become next interior minister of Pakistan, if these speculations materialize, Naqvi’s appointment could mark a notable intersection between sports administration and national governance in Pakistan.
