Bilawal vows to change Karachi if PPP wins 20 seats.

As the final phase of election campaigns unfolds with just days remaining before the February 8 polls, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has articulated a bold vision for the transformation of Karachi should his party secure 20 seats in the city.

Speaking at a rally in Shireen Jinnah Colony, Bilawal underscored the historical significance of Karachi in shaping national politics, highlighting its pivotal role in determining the political landscape.

Karachi, a political cauldron in Pakistan’s electoral history, has been a crucial player in national elections.

The aftermath of the 2018 general elections saw the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerge as the dominant party in the city, while the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), traditionally a stronghold in Karachi, forged a key coalition with Imran Khan’s government after withdrawing support post his vote of no confidence ouster.

As the nation awaits the February 8 polls, various political entities, including the PPP, MQM-P, PTI, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), and others, vie for the 22 coveted seats in Karachi.

Beyond numerical representation, the city holds symbolic significance in the political arena, evident in PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif’s abandoned bid to contest from Keamari’s NA-242, facing opposition from supposed ally MQM-P.

Addressing supporters during the rally, Bilawal acknowledged the trust placed in the PPP during local bodies polls and committed to addressing Karachi’s issues if the party secures a central position.

Encouraging public support on February 8, he assured that PPP candidates would effectively convey local concerns.

However, PPP faces criticism, particularly in the aftermath of recent urban flooding following a rain spell. With a political legacy of nearly 15 years in the provincial government, PPP is in a fierce race to secure victory in Karachi.

As Bilawal vows to change Karachi if PPP wins 20 seats, the nation eagerly anticipates the outcome on February 9, as the political and electoral landscape undergoes a transformation.
