PML-N and MQM-P to contest general elections together. In a strategic move set to reshape the political landscape, the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) have announced a collaborative effort for the forthcoming general elections, scheduled to take place on February 8.

This landmark decision was unveiled following a pivotal meeting between a delegation from MQM-P, comprising Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Farooq Sattar, and Syed Mustafa Kamal, and PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique, held at the PML-N’s Model Town secretariat in Lahore.

The culmination of talks resulted in an agreement to contest the upcoming elections jointly, potentially challenging the dominance of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the region of Sindh.

The proposed collaboration between PML-N and MQM-P signifies a strategic maneuver aimed at countering the strong influence and hold of the PPP in the Sindh region, a long-standing bastion of the latter.

In addition to this notable development, reports have indicated that PML-N is actively seeking alliances with opposition parties to the PPP in Sindh, further consolidating their stance against the incumbent party.

To fortify its position and increase its outreach in the Sindh province, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif has appointed former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officer Bashir Memon as the president of the party’s Sindh chapter.

This groundbreaking move has also set the stage for potential discussions and alliances with the Grand Democratic Alliance.
