Traffic plan issued for PML-N’s Greater Iqbal Park jalsa. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) public meeting is scheduled to take place at the Greater Iqbal Park on Saturday (today), and the party’s leader Nawaz Sharif is expected to make his first speech there after nearly four years.

In an effort to minimise any inconvenience to commuters, the Lahore traffic police on Friday released a traffic plan for the event.

The previous ruling party already has permission from the Lahore district government to host a public gathering in the park.

The three-time former prime minister, who has been in self-imposed exile in London since November 2019 due to health reasons, was also granted protective bail in two graft cases, and a day earlier, an accountability court suspended his arrest warrant in the Toshakhana case, removing all remaining legal obstacles to his smooth return.

The participants will have access to 16 parking spaces, according the traffic advisory. Three drop lanes were also designated for heavy/large vehicles.

To access Iqbal Park from Kala Shah Kaku, visitors from Gujrat, Gujranwala, Kamonki, and Muridke are urged to take the Eastern Bypass.

Supporters of the PML-N travelling from Sargodha, Faisalabad, and the highway will use Sigian and Ring Road to get to the park.

According to the statement, traffic from Okara, Sahiwal, and Multan would access the jalsa venue via the highways Babu Sabu, Bandar Road, and Niazi Shaheed Chowk.

The party’s followers will use Kachehri Chowk and Data Darbar to get to the jalsa venue from Kasur, Kahana, Ferozepur, and Mall Road.

The participants arriving from Kachehri Chowk were told by the traffic police to park their cars on Saggian Ring Road.

The road between Sheranwala and Greater Iqbal Park will remain blocked to regular traffic tomorrow in accordance with the traffic plan.

City Traffic Officer (CTO) Mustansir Feroz added that in order to help commuters, the traffic police would continue to notify the public about the most recent traffic conditions in the city via the Rasta app, FM 88.6, and hotline 15.

He gave the order to make sure that emergency vehicles, such as ambulances, could travel through the megacity’s traffic with ease at all times.

The police official also exhorted the jalsa participants to assist the police in carrying out the traffic plan.
