Meta launches Threads against Twitter. Facebook’s parent company, Meta, has formally unveiled Threads, a new app that aims to offer a platform for online real-time conversations.
With this move, Meta makes a major effort to compete with Twitter, which has long been renowned for its key differentiator of facilitating real-time discussions.
Twitter and Threads are remarkably similar in terms of design and feature descriptions.
The app aims to unite communities around various topics of interest, enabling users to connect with others who share their interests and gain a devoted following.
Threads offer users a succinct platform to express their thoughts, opinions, and creativity with a character limit of 500.

The app’s release coincides with a time when Twitter is dealing with its own issues.
Following a recent outage on the social media platform, temporary caps on users’ tweet consumption were put in place.
Twitter’s founder, Elon Musk, commented on the matter and implied that these limitations were a reaction to problems with data scraping and system manipulation.
Musk made fun of Meta’s executives after Threads launched, claiming that they were managing the business more sanely than Twitter.

Threads is a formidable Twitter rival thanks to Meta’s extensive resources and sizable audience.
The app is the latest in a long line of rivals vying to unseat Twitter as the undisputed leader in the social media space.
Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, have also engaged in a public feud, ratcheting up the rivalry between the two businesses.
Musk expressed his skepticism about the conflict by saying, “I’m sure Earth can’t wait to be exclusively under Zuck’s thumb with no other options.”
In retaliation, Zuckerberg made fun of Musk in an Instagram story by teasing him by captioning a screenshot of his tweet with the phrase “Send Me Location.”
Twitter is doing nothing as Meta forays into the real-time conversation space with Threads.
Twitter announced plans to add voice call features and introduced encrypted messaging in an effort to encroach on Meta’s domain. Twitter now directly competes with Meta’s platforms, such as Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, as a result of these developments.
