Hareem Shah, a social media celebrity, landed herself in hot water on Wednesday after a video showing her displaying a large quantity of foreign currency went viral on social media. Hareem claimed she took the enormous sum of money to the UK with ease in the video, which was published by the TikToker herself.
Hareem was investigated by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for money laundering shortly after her video went public. The Sindh spokeswoman for the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) confirmed the news, adding that the agency will also contact the National Crime Agency of the United Kingdom to take action against TikToker.
Hareem, however, has now stated that she was just made the video for entertainment purposes, which is an expected turn of events. In a new video, the media sensation explains how she has never laundered any money.
“I uploaded a video recently on my personal Instagram account which took a weird turn,” Hareem shared in a new video. “It alleged that I had laundered a hefty amount of foreign currency. The truth is I never took the money to the UK and I don’t even have a lot of information about money laundering.”
“I made the video for fun purposes,” she continued. Hareem revealed that the money in the video belonged to her brother, not her. She also stated that the money was not illegal. “I asked permission from my brother to make the video, and he agreed. I only want to state that those who launder money do so without informing anyone else. I got through immigration and entered the UK legitimately. This is all a hoax, and the accusations are false.”
Hareem had previously mocked the authorities in a previous viral video, sharing: “For the first time, I was transporting a considerable amount of goods from Pakistan to the United Kingdom. When bringing the sum, one must exercise caution because they may find themselves in legal difficulties. No one could stop me because no one could. I was able to simply get the significant sum of money out of the nation.”
