D I Khan: Policeman martyred in targeted attack
A police constable was killed when unidentified assailants opened fire on him within limits of Prova police station here on Thursday, says police.
The police identified the deceased constable as Muhammad Aslam was serving at Prova Police Station and on way for security duty at Benazir Income Support Programme(BISP) when indentified terrorits targetted him near an office of the agriculutre department.
The miscreants managed to escape after killing the cop on the spot and also took the rifle of the slain constable with them.
After receiving information about the incident, police personnel including DSP Abid Iqbal along with SHO Prova Iqbal Rafiq Khan and police party reached the site.
The police surrounded the area and started searching for the arrest of the attackers while the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station has registered a case against unknown terrorists under the provisions of murder and terrorism.
Meanwhile, the funeral prayer of the martyred police constable Muhammad Alsam was performed with official honors at Ijaz Shaheed Police Line, D I Khan.
Commissioner D I Khan Aamir Afaq, Regional Police Officer (RPO) D I khan Division Shaukat Abbas, District Police Officer (DPO) D I Khan Captain (retd) Najam-ul-Husnain Liaquat and other senior police officials and police jawans attended the funeral.

The Commissioner, DPO and RPO also laid wreaths of flowers on the coffin of the martyred police constable.
Later, the martyred policeman was buried with official honors in his native area.
