LHC moved against Nishtar Hospital scandal

A petition was submitted to the Lahore High Court (LHC) regarding the discovery of decaying bodies on the roof of the Nishtar Hospital in Multan.

The petitioner begged the court to appoint a high-level investigation into the incident involving the finding of multiple putrefied bodies on the rooftop of the medical facility.

Respondents in the petition were the chief secretary of Punjab and the secretary of health.

Three Nishtar Hospital physicians and two station house officers (SHOs) were suspended yesterday by Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi due to their alleged incompetence in the subject of dead bodies being dumped on the hospital’s rooftop.

Chaudhry Parvez Elahi received an initial inquiry report and was informed on the subject during a meeting earlier in the day, according to a statement released by the Punjab CM office.

The conference included former federal minister Moonis Elahi, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Assistant Secretary of the Home, and the Special Secretary for the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, among others.

On October 13, Chaudhry Zaman Gujjar, advisor to the Punjab Chief Minister (CM), discovered unclaimed bodies left on the roof of Multan’s Nishtar Hospital.

There have also been upsetting recordings showing the dead bodies left on the roof of Nishtar Hospital, a teaching facility for Nishtar Medical University.

The videos depicted the horrifying conditions in the mortuary-filled Nishtar Hospital. Some remains were seen being dumped on the floor and an old wooden cot in the videos and photos.
