North Korea congratulates China on start of CCP
According to North Korea’s state-run KCNA, the country congratulated China on the opening of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) 20th National Congress and promised to keep cooperating to forge closer connections.
The statement claimed that the WPK and the CCP were “defending the common interests of the two peoples and powerfully spearheading the socialist struggle,” and that this was the case “despite (an) unprecedentedly difficult international environment.”
As the United States and its allies react to North Korea’s recent barrage of missile launches, including one that unexpectedly sailed over neighbouring Japan, tensions are high on the Korean Peninsula.

Even though this year has witnessed the most launches since North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un assumed office in 2011, the country has fired missiles nine times since September 25 while frequently highlighting its nuclear capabilities.
In addition, North Korea received a response from Xi on Thursday after Kim had wished China a happy 73rd founding anniversary on October 1st, according to KCNA on Sunday.
