Heavy loadshedding continues amid shortfall of 6,530 MW

The country’s electricity shortfall has reached 6,530 megawatts, with total power generation at 20,170 megawatts and total demand at 26,700 megawatts, resulting in prolonged power outages.

According to power division sources, at least 4,320 megawatts of electricity are generated from water, while 1,254 megawatts of electricity are generated by the government’s thermal plants.

The total power generation capacity of private sector power plants is 11,797 megawatts, with wind power plants producing at least 1,257 megawatts and solar plants producing at least 119 megawatts.

Bagasse-based power plants generate 186 megawatts of electricity, while nuclear fuel-based power plants generate 1,236 megawatts.

Meanwhile, power outages lasting up to 14 hours are being carried out across the country.

Six-hour load shedding is in effect in Islamabad.

In areas with high losses, load shedding lasts longer.
