A heartbroken woman in Larkana attempted suicide on Saturday by jumping into the city canal with her one-and-a-half-year-old baby.

Locals rushed to the scene and safely rescued the woman and her baby before handing them over to Larkana’s women police.

The incident occurred in Larkana’s Rice Canal.

Kiran (25), who was heartbroken after her husband Ali Raza Kandharo divorced her, attempted suicide.

According to the police, both mother and child are safe and have been transferred to the Larkana women’s police station.

Larkana is a city located in the Sind province of Pakistan. It is the 15th largest city in Pakistan by population. It is home to the Indus Valley civilization site Mohenjo-daro. The historic Indus River flows in east and south of the city. The city is located within Larkana District.
