ISLAMABAD: According to a statement from the US Mission to Pakistan, certain Pakistani visa applicants are now eligible for an interview waiver.
Applicants for F (student) visas, J (exchange visitor) visas in academic programmes, H (temporary worker visas), and non-blanket L (intracompany transferee) visas are exempt from this requirement. Interview waivers are now available at the US Embassy in Islamabad and the US Consulate General in Karachi.
Pakistani citizens who have previously held a US visa are eligible for this programme. According to the US Embassy in Islamabad, expanding interview waiver eligibility in these categories will improve customer service and promote the effective and timely processing of visas for qualified Pakistani individuals.
According to the statement, some eligible visa holders may still be asked to attend interviews at the US Embassy or Consulate General after submitting their applications.
In Islamabad, the new US ambassador to Pakistan arrives.
According to the US Embassy and Consulates in Pakistan, Donald Blome, the new US ambassador to Pakistan, arrived in Islamabad on Monday. Blome is a career member of the senior foreign service with the rank of Minister-Counselor.
“Ambassador Donald Blome started his assignment at the US Embassy in Islamabad today,” the embassy said in a statement.
