Only choice to follow TLP protest model, If government uses EVMs: Rana Sanaullah

ISLAMABAD: According to PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah, two methods of protest are being considered to counter the government’s insistence on deploying electronic voting machines (EVMs) in elections.

Sanaullah remarked on Geo News’ ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath’ that one opinion is to keep filming protests inside and outside Parliament, while the other is to adopt the TLP protest model.

The host, Shahzeb Khanzada, said that the government is pressuring the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the opposition to use electronic voting machines (EVMs) in the approaching election.

According to The News, the PML-N Punjab president said that if the government tried to force the elections using EVMs, the party would be forced to follow the TLP model of protests.

He claimed that the incumbent government has no idea about the dynamics of polling stations and that if EVMs were used, the 2023 elections would become contentious even before they were held.
