Karachi blast: Bomb exploded via remote-control device

According to a preliminary report compiled by the Bomb Disposal Squad [BDS], the explosion involved 2kg of explosives and 0.5kg of ball bearings.

The bomb was detonated by remote control, according to BDS officials.

“Such explosions have occurred twice in the past. They added that one explosion occurred in Shireen Jinnah Colony and the other on Maripur Road in Karachi.

Meanwhile, the body of a bombing victim was transferred to his hometown of Rahim Yar Khan. The family stated that Omar was on his way the previous evening when he was killed by the explosion. “He was enrolled in an X-ray course at Jinnah Hospital,” they added.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah condemned the bombing in Karachi with vehemence.

In a statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of those who were injured. Those who oppose people and peace will be eliminated in coordination with provincial governments, he said.

The Prime Minister requested that the injured receive the best medical care possible from the Chief Minister of Sindh.

Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari condemned the explosion and extended his deepest condolences to the deceased’s family. He instructed the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

In a statement, Chief Minister of Punjab Hamza Shehbaz condemned the explosion and lamented the loss of life. The PML-N leader also wished the injured a speedy recovery.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan also condemned the explosion and extended his condolences to the deceased’s families.

MQM-P Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the convener, and Abdul Qadir Patel, the federal minister of health, have also condemned the explosion.
