MQM-P likely to join Sindh cabinet after eid

KARACHI: It is expected that Sindh’s cabinet will undergo an even more significant reshuffle after Eidul-Fitr, as the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan has decided to join the provincial government.

The MQM-Pakistan is expected to join the Sindh provincial government after two more ministers and advisors are removed from the Sindh cabinet, according to reports.

PPP leader Sharjeel Inam Memon, who has been accused of financial wrongdoing and excessive wealth, took an oath as a member of the Sindh cabinet on Friday.

Memon was congratulated by the chief minister for taking the oath of office as a cabinet member.

Previous reports stated that MQM-P would also be part of Sindh’s government as two provincial cabinet ministers are expected to quit within a few days.

To make way for the party’s entry into Sindh provincial government, MQM-P and Pakistan People’s Party have agreed to remove two Sindh cabinet ministers.

After signing an agreement with the joint opposition, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) left the ruling alliance.

The Supreme Court of Sindh has granted Sharjeel Memon permission to travel outside of the country.

For the first time in Pakistan’s history, an 18-point agreement signed by MQM and PPP was dubbed the “Charter of Rights.”

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and MQM-P leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui signed the agreement, while Shehbaz Sharif, Fazlur Rehman, Akhtar Mengal, and Khalid Magsi signed the agreement as guaranteers.
