Ishaq Dar Urges Immediate De-escalation in Calls With Global Counterparts

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has held a series of high-level telephone conversations with his international counterparts, stressing the urgent need to reduce regional tensions and promote dialogue to maintain peace and stability.

According to a spokesperson for the Foreign Office of Pakistan, Dar spoke with Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Anand, during which both leaders exchanged views on rapidly evolving regional developments. They agreed on the importance of immediate de-escalation and reaffirmed their shared commitment to diplomacy as the primary means of resolving conflicts.

Dar emphasized that dialogue remains essential for sustainable peace, while both sides agreed to remain in close contact and continue high-level exchanges to further strengthen Pakistan–Canada relations.

Engagements with Japan, Portugal, and the UK

In a separate call with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, both leaders reiterated the need for an immediate reduction in tensions. Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting all initiatives aimed at regional peace. Motegi welcomed Pakistan’s constructive role and expressed Japan’s support for diplomatic efforts to stabilize the region.

Dar also held discussions with Portugal’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, highlighting Pakistan’s continued efforts toward achieving lasting peace. Rangel commended Pakistan’s approach, and both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest while maintaining active diplomatic engagement.

Additionally, Dar discussed bilateral relations and the broader regional situation with Hamish Falconer, the United Kingdom’s Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs. The British minister acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions toward promoting peace and regional stability.

The diplomatic outreach reflects Pakistan’s intensified engagement with key international partners amid growing regional uncertainty, as Islamabad continues to advocate dialogue, restraint, and peaceful conflict resolution.
