The US Embassy in Pakistan has announced the cancellation of all visa appointments until Friday, March 6, citing heightened security risks amid widespread protests across the country.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday morning, the US Embassy confirmed that visa services at its Islamabad embassy and Consulates General in Lahore and Karachi will remain suspended through March 6 due to the ongoing security situation.
Earlier, the embassy had cancelled appointments on Monday for visas and American Citizen Services (ACS) for one day. The latest announcement extends the suspension until the end of the week.

The move comes as demonstrations continue in major cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Skardu, following reports of US attacks on Iran’s Supreme Leader. Authorities have increased security measures and imposed restrictions to prevent further unrest.
Due to the current security situation, the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and the Consulates General in Lahore and Karachi have cancelled all visa appointments through Friday, March 6.

The US Embassy has also advised its staff to limit movement and urged American citizens in Pakistan to stay vigilant, avoid large gatherings, and update their registration with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for timely alerts.
