NADRA Launches 2,000+ E-Franchise Centers for CNIC Renewal in Pakistan

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has rolled out a nationwide network of e-franchise centers to make the renewal and replacement of Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) more accessible for citizens.

Under the new system, individuals no longer need to visit NADRA registration offices. Instead, CNIC-related services can now be availed through authorized e-franchise outlets located in local neighborhoods across Pakistan.

Pilot Project Expanded Nationwide

NADRA spokesperson Syed Shabahat Ali said the initiative was initially launched as a pilot project with 18 e-franchise centers. Following its success, the network has been expanded to more than 2,000 centers nationwide, significantly improving public access to identity services.

No Internet or Smartphone Required

The spokesperson clarified that citizens do not need a smartphone or internet access to use the service. Applicants can simply visit a nearby e-franchise center, provide their CNIC number, and complete biometric verification, including photographs and fingerprints, retrieved from NADRA’s database.

Services Offered Without FIR Requirement

Currently, e-franchise centers offer services limited to CNIC renewal and reissuance of lost identity cards. Importantly, applicants are not required to file a police report (FIR) for either service, easing the process for citizens.

Data Security and Privacy Assurance

Addressing data protection concerns, Syed Shabahat Ali said citizens can monitor access to their personal information through NADRA’s Pak-Identity app. The app allows users to check when and how their data—including CNIC details, fingerprints, and QR codes—has been accessed, ensuring transparency and security.
