The University of Peshawar has yet to release salaries for employees in BPS-17 and above, while pensions for staff across all grades also remain unpaid, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The delay has left university employees and retirees uncertain about when their dues will be cleared.
No Payment Schedule Announced
Staff members said the administration has not shared a firm payment timeline, causing frustration and anxiety among both teaching and non-teaching employees. Employee representatives warned that continued delays may lead to protests or strikes in the coming days.
Repeated Delays Raise Concerns
This is not the first time payments have been delayed. Employees argue that such delays have become repetitive rather than exceptional, highlighting the need for sustainable financial planning. They insist the university take lasting steps to ensure timely salary disbursements and regular pension payments.

University Cites Financial Constraints
University officials have previously linked the payment issues to a widening gap between income and expenditure, citing rising operational costs and growing deficits that have disrupted regular payroll processing. Temporary solutions, they say, have only provided short-term relief.
Calls for Immediate Resolution
Employee representatives stressed that temporary fixes are no longer sufficient. They are urging the administration to adopt long-term measures to protect staff rights and maintain the university’s smooth functioning.
With salaries and pensions still pending, there is growing concern that employee agitation may intensify if the impasse is not resolved promptly.
