Gold emerged as the best-performing investment asset in Pakistan in 2025, delivering returns of up to 99 percent in Pakistani Rupee (PKR) terms, according to market data. Amid volatility in equity markets and ongoing Pakistani Rupee depreciation, gold once again proved its strength as a safe-haven investment.
Gold Investment Returns Surge in Pakistan
From December 31, 2024, to December 30, 2025, the 24-karat gold price in Pakistan rose sharply. Gold prices per 10 grams increased from Rs. 233,711 at the end of 2024 to a record high of Rs. 475,662 in late November 2025.
As of gold price today in PKR (December 30, 2025), bullion is trading around Rs. 459,462 per 10 grams, reflecting annual returns of approximately 96 percent despite a mild year-end correction.
Gold Performance 2025: A Year of Strong Gains
Between January 1 and December 24, 2025, gold delivered returns of nearly 73 percent. At its peak in November, gold returns briefly crossed 103 percent, making it one of the strongest years for gold investment in Pakistan.
The gold price trend in 2025 highlights why many investors view gold as a reliable hedge against inflation and currency weakness.
International Gold Prices Fuel Local Rally
The domestic surge was supported by a powerful rally in global markets. The international gold price today stands near $4,371 per ounce, up from $2,612 per ounce at the end of 2024.
This represents a 67.3 percent return in dollar terms, significantly outperforming last year’s gains and driven by global inflation concerns, geopolitical uncertainty, and sustained central bank gold buying.
What These Gold Returns Mean for Investors
To put the gains into perspective, an investor who held 10 tolas of 24-karat gold since December 31, 2024, would now own gold worth approximately Rs. 4.59 million—without any active trading.
These figures strengthen the argument for long-term gold investment as a store of value and a hedge against economic instability in emerging markets.
Is Gold a Good Investment in Pakistan?
With continued inflationary pressure, fluctuating interest rates, and a volatile currency outlook, analysts believe gold investment returns in PKR may remain attractive. While short-term volatility is possible, gold’s 2025 performance reinforces its position as one of the most dependable assets for Pakistani investors.
As comparisons between gold vs stock market returns in Pakistan continue, gold’s resilience remains difficult to ignore.
