Gold and Stock Market Lead Pakistan’s Best Performing Investments in 2025

Gold Rate in Pakistan Today

Gold and the Pakistan stock market emerged as the highest-return investment options in 2025, outperforming real estate, government securities, and bank deposits, according to a report by Topline Securities.

Gold Becomes Pakistan’s Top Performing Asset in 2025

Gold delivered an outstanding 73% return between January 1 and December 24, 2025, making it the best-performing asset class in Pakistan.

  • Gold price surged from Rs. 233,711 to Rs. 405,402 per 10 grams

  • International gold price rose from $2,612 to $4,503 per ounce

Strong global demand, economic uncertainty, and investor preference for safe-haven assets contributed to this massive rise.

Pakistan Stock Market Delivers Impressive 48% Return

The KSE-100 Index ranked as the second-best performing investment, posting a 48% total return including dividends.
Analysts attribute this strong performance to:

  • High investor confidence

  • Robust trading volumes

  • Improving market sentiment

With just a few trading sessions left in the year at the time of reporting, equities remained a highly attractive growth investment.

Real Estate Market Continues to Grow Steadily

Real estate remained a preferred investment, especially in DHA Karachi and DHA Lahore:

  • Commercial plots: up 18%

  • Residential plots: up 15%

  • House prices: increased 8%

Despite slower growth compared to gold and stocks, property investments retained strong long-term appeal.

Government Securities Provide Stable Double-Digit Returns

Government-backed financial instruments also performed well:

  • Naya Pakistan PKR Certificate: 22% return

  • Naya Pakistan USD Certificate: 10%

  • Pakistan Investment Bonds (PIBs): 14%

  • Treasury Bills (3-month & 1-year): 12%

  • Special Saving Certificate (SSC): 12%

  • Mutual funds: 11%

  • Bank deposits: 9%

These options remained popular among risk-averse investors seeking stable income.

Currency and Crypto Performance in 2025

The US dollar provided modest gains of around 3–4%, with the rupee remaining relatively stable:

  • Interbank: Rs. 278 → Rs. 280

  • Open market: Rs. 280 → Rs. 281

Meanwhile, cryptocurrency investments recorded a negative –4% return, impacted by global volatility and local regulatory restrictions.

Investment Outlook: Gold and Equities Shine Brightest

Despite economic challenges, gold and equities attracted the highest investor interest due to superior returns. Real estate and government securities continued to offer reliable, lower-risk investment options.

Overall, 2025 proved highly rewarding for Pakistani investors, particularly those who invested in gold and the stock market.
