Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Exempts Sikh Community from Helmet Law

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a major policy decision, granting helmet exemption to the Sikh community across Punjab. The decision respects the religious obligation of Sikhs to wear turbans, which makes helmets difficult to use, ensuring religious freedom and convenience for Sikh motorcyclists.

Strong Commitment to Minority Rights and Protection

Speaking at a Christmas ceremony, Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed that the Punjab government remains fully committed to protecting the rights, safety, and dignity of all minority communities. She stressed that any attempt to harm minorities or deprive them of their rights will be dealt with firmly by the state.

Minority Card Program Increased from 75,000 to 100,000

The Chief Minister also approved an expansion of the Punjab Minority Card Program, increasing its beneficiaries from 75,000 to 100,000 registered minority families. The initiative is aimed at providing financial assistance, welfare support, and social protection to Christians, Sikhs, Hindus, and other minority groups.

Punjab Marks Christmas with Festive Celebrations

Extending Christmas greetings, Maryam Nawaz highlighted that Punjab celebrated Christmas with decorated cities, festive lights, and large public displays, including a giant Christmas tree and Santa Claus installation at Liberty Chowk Lahore, showcasing interfaith harmony and inclusiveness.
