IHC rules on how to follow the Pakistan Information Commission’s order to make gifts that Imran Khan received as prime minister public.
When the case of the gifts was being talked about, Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb said that gifts were not meant for people to take home, but were for the state to use. PMs come and go, but the PM House is here to stay, he said. “Make it a rule that when you get a gift, put it in the state’s coffers.”
He said that a prime minister not only got gifts from foreign dignitaries but also gave them to other countries when he went there. “And those items that are given during foreign tours are bought from the state’s money,” he said. He told the gifts given by foreign visitors to be put on a show.
When the deputy attorney general (DAG) asked the court for more time to get new instructions from the government, Justice Aurangzeb gave him two weeks. He also told him to make sure the information commission’s order was being followed.
