Saudi Arabia announced on Saturday that approximately one million people from within and outside the country will be permitted to perform Hajj this year, according to The Khaleej Times.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced in a statement that the kingdom has “authorized one million pilgrims, both foreign and domestic, to perform the hajj this year.”
Additionally, the statement stated that this year’s Hajj is open to those “under the age of 65 who have received the primary COVID-19 vaccinations approved by the Saudi Ministry of Health.”
Outside pilgrims, on the other hand, must submit a negative COVID-19 PCR result within 72 hours of departure.
The Saudi government is committed to ensuring the pilgrims’ safety and security while also allowing the “maximum number of Muslims worldwide” to perform Hajj.
