Teefi Butt transferred from Dubai to Pakistan.
In a big development in the Ameer Balaj murder case, key suspect Khawaja Tareef Gulshan, also known as Teefi Butt, has been transferred from Dubai to Pakistan, sources confirmed on Friday.
According to sources, Teefi Butt was presented before a Dubai court, where the judge questioned him about his willingness to return to Pakistan. During the proceedings, Teefi Butt expressed his consent to go back and face the cases filed against him in Lahore.
Following the court’s directive, the Dubai officials handed over Teefi Butt to the Punjab Police. A special police team from Pakistan had travelled to Dubai to oversee the extradition process.
Sources said the Punjab Police team has reached Lahore with the suspect, completing his formal transfer to Pakistan’s custody.
“The court asked the accused whether he wanted to return to Pakistan, to which he agreed,” said an official familiar with the development.
“Afterward, the Dubai court handed him over to the Punjab Police team.”
On Oct 4, the main suspect in the Ameer Balaj murder case, Teefi Butt, was arrested from Dubai. Police confirmed that he was apprehended with the assistance of Interpol and will soon be transferred to Pakistan.
According to sources, Teefi Butt had been on the run after being named the main accused in the murder of Ameer Balaj Tipu. A special team of Punjab Police, working in coordination with Interpol, successfully tracked him down in Dubai.
Meanwhile, Teefi Butt’s cousin, known as Gogi Butt and a co-accused in the murder case, has already secured interim bail and come out from hiding.
The Crime Control Department (CCD) has also sought to lead the investigation into the case from the Lahore capital city police officer (CCPO).
According to officials, a Joint Investigation Team formed by Lahore police was probing the murder case. The case of Ameer Balaj Tipu’s killing was registered at Chuhng Police Station, and both Teefi Butt and Aqeel Butt, alias Gogi Butt, have been named as accused.
After his extradition, Teefi Butt was likely to be handed over to the JIT for further questioning and legal proceedings.
