Dubai to get 200 EV chargers soon.
Dubai is all ready to expand its green mobility network with the installation of 208 ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging points, following a new agreement signed between Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) on Thursday.
In the first stage, two major charging hubs will be developed—one at DTC’s main depot near Dubai International Airport and another at its headquarters in Muhaisnah 4. Once operational, these facilities are expected to help cut nearly 37,939 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.
The agreement was formalized during the 27th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), organized by DEWA.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, highlighted that Dubai now has more than 1,500 EV charging stations across the city, many of them established through collaborations with public and private sector partners.

He highlighted that DEWA launched the EV Green Charger initiative in 2014 to meet the growing demand for electric mobility in the emirate.
Al Tayer said, “Our cooperation with Dubai Taxi aligns with the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which seek to make Dubai the best city for living, working, and investing. This partnership underscores our commitment to innovative climate solutions that strengthen Dubai’s global standing and support the UAE’s sustainability goals.”
Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Kalbat, Chairman of the Board of Directors at DTC, added that the company is committed to converting 100% of its fleet, including taxis and limousines, to electric vehicles by 2040.
He said, “This bold transformation is a cornerstone of DTC’s sustainability strategy, positioning us as a role model for clean, connected, and future-ready mobility.”
