Punjab approves major restoration project for historic archaeological site.

The Punjab government has decided to restore the historic Harappa archaeological site, an important cultural and civilisational landmark. The project will cost Rs 1.42 billion.

As part of the plan, new residential facilities for tourists will be developed to promote tourism in the region.

The provincial Department of Archaeology will carry out the repair and restoration work until June 2028. A watchtower will also be built to give visitors a better view of the ancient remains.

To showcase the Indus Valley Civilisation, the project will introduce hologram technology for educational displays. Additionally, a model village will be established under the scheme to enhance the visitor experience.
