‘Serial rapist’ detained in Karachi for abusing over 100 minor girls.
A surprising case of serial sexual abuse has been revealed in Karachi, sending waves of horror through the city. A local sharbat seller has been detained after allegedly confessing to the rape of more than 100 minor girls over several years.
How the suspect was caught
The suspect was apprehended by locals in the Qayyumabad area before being handed over to Defense Police. The arrest came about when one of the young survivors took a USB drive from his house and gave it to a shopkeeper. Upon reviewing its contents, which contained horrific videos, the shopkeeper and other local residents moved to detain him.
Confession
During investigation, the resident of Abbottabad who moved to Karachi in 2016, made a full confession.
South SSP Mahzoor Ali stated that the suspect admitted to sexually abusing girls aged between seven and 13 years old. He further confessed that his criminal activities began in 2016 and became significantly more active starting in 2019.
He further said that the minor girls were lured into bringing other girls with them too. Police sources said the suspect had abused some girls several times.
According to police officials, the suspect specifically targeted the young daughters of domestic workers and maids employed in various homes.
He exploited their vulnerability, often luring them by posing as a sherbet seller and sometimes even giving them small amounts of money.
The investigation took a more sinister turn when police discovered that the suspect documented his crimes. He not only made nearly 100 videos of the assaults but also kept a personal diary where he recorded the names of his victims and the dates of the attacks.
Video evidence
Police have recovered multiple videos from the suspect’s mobile phone. So far, four victims, including two sisters, have been formally identified, leading to the registration of four cases against the suspect.
Medical examinations of the identified survivors are currently underway.
Officials are now probing several alarming angles.
Matter of gang rape
A key question is whether the suspect acted alone or as part of a larger gang. Police are also probing whether he sold the horrific videos on the dark web for financial gain.
The SSP mentioned the suspect had a friend, who died in an accident, though his potential involvement remains unclear.
