FIA detains Jam Abdul Karim at Karachi airport

Jam Abdul Karim, a Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MNA who was nominated in the Nazim Jokhio murder case, arrived in Karachi on Thursday by Emirates airline aircraft EK604.

Provincial Minister Imtiaz Sheikh, as well as PPP leaders Sohail Sial and Shabir Bijarani, greeted Jam Abdul Karim at Karachi International Airport.

The PPP MP will vote on the opposition’s no-confidence motion against the prime minister.

Jam Abdul Karim was apprehended by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials at Karachi airport and handed over to Malir SSP Irfan Bahadur. The MP was then taken away by police under strict protection.

Nazim Jokhio’s widow had recorded a video message the day before, pardoning all those implicated in her husband’s murder.

Meanwhile, the Nazim Jokhio murder case took a dramatic turn when the Sindh home secretary requested that the investigating officer be changed in a letter to the Inspector General of Police.

According to sources close to the situation, the letter was sent by the home secretary at the request of the Sindh prosecutor general.

“The current investigating officer is inept and has abused his authority.” “He appeared before the administrative judge of an anti-terrorism court (ATC) without the prosecutor general, causing the Sindh government humiliation,” the letter states.

The letter was apparently written at the request of influential people.
