The Islamabad High Court (IHC) restrained the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from taking any action against Prime Minister Imran Khan during the hearing of a petition against the premier and government ministers for violating the election code of conduct.
Ali Zafar Advocate urged the court to prevent the election commission from fining the prime minister.
After hearing the arguments, Justice Amir Farooq directed the ECP to send a notice in the event of a violation of the electoral code of conduct.
“Do not take any action other than issuing a notice until the next hearing,” Justice Amir Farooq instructed the election commission, further instructing it not to disqualify or punish anyone until the next hearing.
On April 6, the IHC requested additional arguments from the parties.
