Mumbai 7/11 train blasts: High Court acquits all 12 accused after 19 years

The Bombay High Court has acquitted all 12 accused in the 2006 Mumbai train blasts case, citing that the prosecution “utterly failed” to prove charges against them.

The judgement comes 19 years after the coordinated bombings that targeted Mumbai’s Western Railway network on July 11, 2006, killing over 180 people and injuring hundreds.

The division bench observed serious lapses in the investigation and insufficient evidence to establish the accused’s involvement in the deadly attacks.

The verdict overturns earlier convictions and death sentences, raising fresh questions about the handling of one of India’s deadliest terror cases.
