All you need to know about UAE’s latest visa changes and updates.
The United Arab Emirates is persistently working to improve its immigration and residency policies to draw skilled professionals from around the world, enhance key sectors, and simplify administrative procedures.
Several new visa categories were introduced in 2024 and 2025, targeting fields such as education, healthcare, gaming, and the creative arts.
New digital systems also make it easier to access residency and work services.
Among the most notable changes is the Blue Visa, aimed at environmental advocates, as well as expanded visa-on-arrival privileges for Indian nationals.
Here’s an overview of the latest reforms shaping the UAE’s evolving residency landscape:
1. No Golden Visa for Cryptocurrency Investment
The UAE has clarified that investments in cryptocurrency do not meet the requirements for the Golden Visa.
This announcement came in response to misleading online claims suggesting that users could obtain residency through The Open Network (TON), a blockchain platform linked to Telegram.
Authorities swiftly denied these rumors to ensure accurate public information.
2. Golden Visa Extended to Nurses
In recognition of their vital contribution to public health, nurses employed for over 15 years by Dubai Health are now eligible for the Golden Visa.
This initiative, announced on International Nurses Day, aligns with directives from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and offers 10-year residency to long-serving healthcare professionals.
3. Good news for gaming professionals
As part of the Dubai Gaming Programme 2033, the UAE has made e-sports and gaming professionals eligible for the Golden Visa.
Applicants must be 25 years or older and receive accreditation from Dubai Culture.
Abu Dhabi has also taken steps to support this sector through its Department of Culture and Tourism, reinforcing the UAE’s ambition to become a regional e-sports hub.

4. Golden Visas for Digital Creators and Influencers
Filmmakers, influencers, and digital content creators can now apply for the 10-year Golden Visa through Creators HQ.
This initiative, launched during the 1 Billion Followers Summit, underscores the UAE’s commitment to becoming a leader in global digital media.
Applications can be submitted online and do not require local sponsorship.
5. AI Platform ‘Salama’ Simplifies Visa Processes
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai has launched Salama, an AI-powered platform that automates visa applications, payments, and service management. This digital solution reduces paperwork and enhances accessibility for both individuals and businesses.
6. Expanded Visa-on-Arrival Access for Indian Citizens
Starting February 2025, Indian nationals holding valid visas or residency from Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada can obtain a UAE visa on arrival.
This expansion complements existing eligibility for those with valid documentation from the US, UK, or EU.
7. Teachers Across UAE Now Eligible for Golden Visa
In October 2024, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) announced that educators in Dubai’s private schools, early learning centers, and universities can apply for the 10-year Golden Visa.
The visa acknowledges excellence in teaching and allows recipients to sponsor their families.
Similarly, Ras Al Khaimah has launched its own Golden Visa scheme for teachers, school leaders, and education professionals through the RAK Department of Knowledge (RAK DOK) to promote long-term educational development.
8. ‘Work Bundle’ Digital Platform Simplifies Hiring
The Work Bundle, part of the Work in UAE initiative, enables employers to manage recruitment, permit renewals, and cancellations online using UAE PASS. This one-stop platform reduces processing time and paperwork, creating a more efficient hiring ecosystem.
9. UAE Introduces 10-Year Blue Visa for Environmental Advocates
The newly launched Blue Visa provides a decade-long residency to individuals who have made significant contributions to environmental sustainability.
Eligible candidates include award-winning researchers, members of environmental organizations, and global climate leaders.
Applications can be made directly through the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship or via nomination by UAE authorities.
