KARACHI: Several parties have asked that Prime Minister Imran Khan and the judiciary take action against a PTI leader’s anti-army statements.
The PM’s social media team and MNAs’ propaganda campaigns, according to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, should be taken seriously because they criticize the army’s neutrality.
“It should be taken notice of, be it through the ISPR or our judiciary. We will not let such propaganda succeed,” he said, adding that it was a struggle for every institution of the country to work within its domain.
The PPP chairman said: “The time has come when the media is talking about a neutral environment, and Imran and his social media team are trying to spread propaganda that institutions are not neutral, be it through provocation or creating a constitutional crisis.”
PPP Secretary of State for Information Faisal Karim Kundi also requested that remarks made by PTI’s Kanwal Shauzab against the army and the ISI be taken into account. He advised her to “avoid acting like [the] Murad Saeed of ladies.”
Malik Ahmad Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League, also slammed the PTI’s social media staff. They must not be allowed to ruin the army’s image, according to Malik, because any challenge to the army would be an existential issue for the country.
He questioned whether a country can exist if its force is not respected, saying that a strong army is the only way to ensure a strong country. He also inquired as to how a country could continue if it did not strictly adhere to the Constitution. Every Pakistani, according to the PML-N leader, is willing to give his life for the country’s growth and security.
Salik Hussain of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q slammed the PTI representative for using strong language against the Pakistan Army and the ISI. Hussain reacted by saying: “It is intolerable to make unsubstantiated accusations against the Pakistan Army’s command and the ISI’s command. We know how to deal with such people if the prime minister does not take action to rein them in.”
Fawad Chaudhry, Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting, has slammed social media accounts critical of the Pakistan Army, saying they promote the PML-“cause.” N’s
He believes this is a ruse to create a schism between the prime minister and the army, which he believes will never happen. We are convinced that the army is the guarantor of Pakistan’s territorial integrity, he said.
