Donate and release needy prisoners during Ramazan.
To assist the prisoners who have completed their sentences but remains behind bars due to nonpayment of fine, the Punjab Home Department has issued an appeal to the humanists to pay off prisoners’ fines to ensure their release before eid.
Philanthropists are encouraged to contribute their Zakat to help the poor prioners who can’t pay fine.
According to the department’s spokesperson, around 150 prisoners have completed their sentences but are still incarcerated due to unpaid dues amounting to Rs100 million.
Last year, Rs170 million was paid to secure the release of 226 prisoners.
Individuals can contribute by depositing funds into the Punjab Prison Foundation’s account, ensuring the release of prisoners in time for Eid.
Moreover, fines can be deposited in a bank on behalf of a prisoner, with the challan form submitted to the relevant jail for processing.
