Biden denied Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s mercy petition, IHC told.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday conducted a hearing of the case regarding Dr. Aafia Siddiqui imprisoned in US jail, during which the court was informed that outgoing US President Joe Biden had denied the mercy petition of Aafia Siddiqui, reported The Asian Mirror.
Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan heard the case.
It was further informed that the USA had refused to ink an accord regarding the exchange of prisoners.
Aafia’s sister, Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui, along with her US lawyer, Clive Smith, attended the court hearing through a video link.
The lawyer for the petitioner, Imran Shafiq, and the attorney general were also present during the hearing of the case.
The court observed that President Biden had pardoned his son but denied the same to the Pakistani prisoner.
A detailed report of the prime minister’s and foreign minister’s foreign tours was also submitted in the court.
