The government has appointed Lt. Gen. (R) Moazzam Ejaz, HI (M), as the new Chairman of the National Technology Council (NTC).
The appointment, effective from July 29, 2024, was approved by the Chairman of HEC in his capacity as the Controlling Authority of the Council.
Lt. Gen. Moazzam Ejaz, who currently serves as the Rector of the National University of Technology (NUTECH) in Islamabad, will remain on the post for four years.
His appointment aligns with Clause 3 of the approved Bylaws of the Council.

The official notification from HEC stated,
“The Chairman HEC – in his capacity as the Controlling Authority of the Council – has been pleased to appoint Lt. Gen. Moazzam Ejaz, HI (M) (Retd.), (Rector, National University of Technology (NUTECH), Islamabad), as the Chairmain of National Technology Council (NTC) for a period of four (04) years w.e.f July 29, 2024, as per Clause 3 of the approved Bylaws of the Council.”
It was also clarified that the Chairperson shall not be entitled to any salary or benefits for his services, except for an honorarium and allowances as may be prescribed.
Who is Lt. Gen. (R) Moazzam Ejaz?
Lt. General retd. Moazzam Ejaz hailed from Army Corps of Engineers, who also served as Engineer-in-Chief.
He is also a member of the governing body of the Pakistan Engineering Council.
He earlier held several honorable and senior positions, including Quarter Master General, General Officer Commanding, and DG Housing Directorate at Army Headquarters.
Ejaz’s contributions to various Frontier Works Organization (FWO) projects made him notable person in forces.
He also served as the Rector of the National University of Technology (NUTECH).
