Bangladesh government accepts SC ruling of 93% open merit in jobs.
After a series of massive protests in Bangladesh by students, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has accepted the Supreme Court’s verdict to allocate 93% of government jobs based on open merit, limiting the quota to 7%.
The decision came after a intense demonstrations that have led to the deaths of 174 people, injuries to hundreds, and the arrest of over 2,500 activists.

The Bangladeshi government also decided to restore the internet services starting tonight and a uplifting of the curfew on Wednesday, allowing movement from 10 am to 5 pm.
According to a report, offices in Bangladesh will be open from 11 am to 3 pm.
The Supreme Court of Bangladesh had previously ruled to limit the quota for government jobs to 7%, triggering political kerfuffle across the country.
