Iran denies role in Trump shooting incident.
Iran has vehemently denied accusations made by US media implicating it for a plot to kill former US president Donald Trump on Wednesday.
According to the reports, a ‘human source’ told US officials about an alleged ploy by Iranians against former president weeks ago.
The US authorities later increased his protection after getting the tip.
Many US outlets including CNN also reported the alleged plot.
However, CNN maintained that there is no connection between the alleged plot and Saturday’s shooting at a Trump campaign rally in Pennsylvania, in which the former president’s ear was injured and a supporter killed.

The US National Security Council said it had been “tracking Iranian threats against former Trump administration officials for years” after Tehran threatened revenge for the 2020 killing of Revolutionary Guards commander Qasem Soleimani in a US drone strike in neighboring Iraq on the orders of Trump.
As Iran denies role in Trump shooting incident, Iran’s mission to the United Nations responded that the accusations are “unsubstantiated and malicious”.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanani said Iran “strongly rejects any involvement in the recent armed attack against Trump”.
He added however that Iran remains “determined to prosecute Trump over his direct role in the assassination of General Qasem Soleimani“.
Soleimani was the commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, overseeing Iranian military operations across the Middle East.
Trump ordered his killing in a drone strike just outside Baghdad airport.
