Qureshi thanks Russian FM for successful evacuation of Paksitani in Ukraine

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi spoke by phone with Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu on Tuesday to negotiate the evacuation of Pakistanis stranded in Ukraine.

The two ministers also reviewed bilateral relations between the two nations and discussed regional and international topics of mutual concern, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

Qureshi shared Pakistan’s perspective, noting that Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed regret for the current situation between Russia and Ukraine during his recent visit to Moscow, emphasizing that conflict is not in anyone’s best interests because it disproportionately affects developing countries.

He also emphasized the importance of conversation and diplomacy in resolving conflicts.

Qureshi expressed his gratitude to the Romanian side for its cooperation in the evacuation of Pakistanis from Ukraine and expressed his hope for ongoing and rapid border crossing facilitation for Pakistani students and community members.

In the meanwhile, Aurescu pledged Romania’s full support and cooperation in the evacuation effort, and the two ministers vowed to keep in touch.
