Man burnt to death over blasphemy allegations in Swat

A man has been burnt to death over blasphemy allegations in Swat.

In a tragic incident on Thursday night, a man accused of blasphemy was burned to death by a mob in Madyan, located in the Swat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to local police.

The district police officer (DPO) reported that authorities had initially detained the suspect and taken him to the police station.

However, a frenzied crowd forcibly removed him from police custody and set him ablaze.

The mob did not stop there.

They attacked the Madyan police station, setting it on fire and damaging police vehicles in the process.

“Eight officers were injured when the protesters stormed the station,” police officials confirmed.

The suspect, accused of blasphemy, ultimately died after being tortured and burned alive by the crowd.

This violent episode mirrors a similar event last month in Punjab’s Sargodha district.

There, an infuriated mob targeted the house of a Christian man in the Mujahid Colony area over another alleged blasphemy incident.

The mob vandalized the man’s property, set fire to a shoe factory within his home, and caused further chaos by burning tires and damaging electrical installations in the vicinity.

Police responded swiftly, deploying a substantial force to secure the area and rescue the accused and his family, relocating them to an undisclosed safe location.

Following the incident, several arrests were made by law enforcement agencies.
