A lawyer has lodged a petition with the sessions court requesting the initiation of legal action against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for wearing the uniform of the Punjab police during an official passing out parade event.
What’s the controversy:
The controversy arose when the chief minister Maryam Nawaz attended a police passing out parade in Lahore earlier today wearing a police uniform.

During the event, she received a guard of honour upon her arrival and later presented awards to the top graduates from the Police Training College.
Petition Details and Legal Basis:
The petitioner, identified as Syed Waqar Ali Shah, an advocate of the high court, argued in the petition that Maryam Nawaz had no legitimate right to wear the police uniform as she is neither a government official nor a member of the provincial police force.

Criminal Procedure Code
Shah has invoked sections 22-A and B of the Criminal Procedure Code (CR.P.C) in his petition, seeking the registration of a criminal case against Maryam Nawaz.
The petition specifically names the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Old Anarkali police station as a respondent in the case.
