Allama Iqbal taught us how to stand against colonialism, says President Raisi.

Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi made a significant visit to the mausoleum of Allama Muhammad Iqbal in Lahore, honoring the revered “poet of the East” as part of his trip to Pakistan’s provincial capital.

Iran’s Bond with Pakistan:

President Raisi expressed a sense of belonging and emphasized the special affinity between the Iranian and Pakistani peoples during his visit.

He noted the profound importance of Allama Iqbal’s legacy, highlighting the poet’s message of resistance against colonialism.

President Raisi said that Allama Iqbal taught us how to stand against colonialism.

“Allama Iqbal’s personality is very important for us. He gave a message on how to stand against colonialism,” the president said.

Heartfelt Connections:

Raisi reiterated the deep and lasting connection between the people of Pakistan and Iran, wishing to address the public during his visit, which unfortunately could not be realized due to some reasons.

“I wanted to address a public gathering in Pakistan, however, it could not be possible due to some reasons,” he added.

Praise for Pakistan’s stance on Gaza:

The Iranian President commended Pakistan for its principled stance on the Gaza conflict, expressing confidence in the eventual success of the Palestinian cause against Israel.

Warm Reception in Lahore:

President Raisi received a warm welcome upon his arrival at Allama Iqbal International Airport from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and a delegation of government officials and dignitaries.

Punjab senior minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Azma Bokhari, Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Senator Pervez Rasheed, Minister for Secondary Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Suleman Rafiq, Food minister Bilal Yasin, Industries Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain were present at the occasion.

Moreover, chief secretary, inspector general of police, Iranian Consul General Mehran Mowahid in Lahore and other officials were also present at the airport.

Engagements in Lahore:

President Raisi will also visit GC University Lahore and hold meetings with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Governor Baligh Ur Rehman.

Public Holiday Declared:

The Punjab government declared a public holiday in Lahore to facilitate the visit and ensure convenience for the general public and commuters during President Raisi’s stay.

Karachi visit:

Following his engagements in Lahore, President Raisi will travel to Karachi, where he will meet with Governor Kamran Tessori and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

He will pay respects at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.
