MQM-P threatens to quit Sindh government over rise in Karachi street crimes.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Senator Faisal Subzwari declared that his party would withdraw from the government if the alarming rise in street crimes in Karachi wasn’t addressed promptly.
This ultimatum follows a recent surge in violent incidents, with citizens falling victim to robberies and snatching, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

Dissatisfaction with PPP Governance
Senator Subzwari expressed dissatisfaction with the 15-year rule of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Sindh, suggesting that if similar levels of violence were occurring elsewhere, demands for decisive action would have been made sooner.
Rising Crime Statistics
According to reports, between January and March alone, at least 50 individuals lost their lives due to street crimes in Karachi.
Additionally, encounters with police resulted in the deaths of six alleged criminals, while 93 others were apprehended, some with injuries.
Contradictory Statements
While concerns about the worsening security situation in Karachi are on the rise, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar appeared to downplay the severity of the issue, labeling it as “part of daily life.”

He called for urgent action, including the implementation of street barriers to deter criminal activities.
Direct Appeal to Interior Minister
Directing his appeal to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Senator Subzwari urged him to visit Karachi and engage directly with MQM-P representatives to address the escalating security concerns.
Clarification on Governorship
Amid speculation about a potential change in the governorship of Sindh, Senator Subzwari clarified that his party has not made any decisions on the matter.
He emphasized that Governor Kamran Tessori remains the federation’s representative in Sindh and will continue in his role.
